The Legality Rating was established by Article 5-ter of Legislative Decree No. 1/2012 to promote the introduction of ethical principles in corporate behavior.
The assignment of the rating requires compliance with high standards of legality by companies and measures, rewarding it, a transparent, ethical, and virtuous business management.
The rating promotes competition based on merit, encouraging compliance with rules and the improvement of quality standards by companies operating in the market.
Companies holding the Legality Rating can enjoy benefits in accessing resources and opportunities in both public and private sectors.
Companies (both individual and corporate) that meet cumulatively the following requirements may apply for the rating:
- operational headquarters in Italy;
- minimum revenue of two million euros in the fiscal year closed in the year prior to the application;
- registration in the business register for at least two years at the date of application;
- compliance with other substantial requirements set by the Regulation.
The Legality Rating is recognized through the assignment of a score, ranging from a minimum of one to a maximum of three “stars,” which constitutes a synthetic indicator of compliance with high standards of legality and ethics by companies.
The applying company obtains the base score ★, provided it meets all the requirements of the Implementing Regulation on the Legality Rating. The base score can be increased by a “+” for each additional requirement that the company demonstrates it possesses among those provided by the Regulation. Achieving three “+” results in the assignment of an additional star, up to a maximum score of ★★★.
Interested companies must submit the application using the appropriate platform Webrating available on this site. To this end, the company must first register on the platform and, once registration is complete, access the system, proceed to fill out the application, and subsequently submit it, following the relevant instructions available on this same site.
The legality rating is valid for three years from the issuance and is renewable upon request.
There are no costs for companies that want to obtain the legality rating.
